I’m Maya Mikkelsen, and I started skiing at just two years old here in Whistler. I progressed through the ski school levels and eventually joined the Freestylerz program, where I truly discovered my passion for mogul skiing. From there, I moved on to Freestyle Whistler, a pivotal stepping stone that helped propel me onto the BC Mogul Team, where I spent six incredible years. After growing up within that team, my dream came true in 2023 when I was officially named to Team Canada.
After 2 seasons on Team Canada, I have now been named a Canadian dual moguls champion, as well as the 2025 NorAm circuit overall champion. But when I’m not competing or training, I like to do what every other Whistler kid does, and spend time on my bikes, ski in the backcountry, and climb up mountains. I also spent time giving back to the club that started it all for me, Freestyle Whistler, while also helping keep the female mogul skiing community strong by supporting the “Girlstylerz” initiative as much as possible.
