Emeline Bennett was not born in Whistler, BC but her parents and grandparents have a long history in the community, and she was fortunate to call it her second home.  Emeline started skiing the Creekside bunny hill at two years of age and never looked back. After her run through the ski school levels, she stepped into the ski racing world at age 11 and joined the Whistler Mountain Ski Club. She raced with the club for seven seasons and credits those years for laying the foundation of her success in sport, academics, and life.

She is grateful for the multitude of amazing coaches that have passed through the race team and knows that they, alongside her teammates, pushed and inspired her to become the athlete that she is today. The level of professionalism, respect, and dedication that the Whistler Mountain Ski Club instilled in her is often recognized and will always be carried with her as she moves through the world of ski cross racing and the rest of her adult life.

Alongside a love of Whistler’s snow-covered mountains, her appreciation of nature encouraged her to find new ways of spending time outdoors. This led her to the trails, the ever-growing mountain bike community, and a huge part of her off season which is now spent on two wheels. In the “on” season Emeline competes in ski cross and is making her debut on the Europa Cup circuit in February 2022. With her family history and her entire ski career stemming from the amazing town, Emeline is proud to represent Whistler, BC and hopefully one day her country on the World Cup ski cross stage.

Broderick Thompson grew up in Whistler BC since day one, attending Myrtle Philip Elementary and Whistler secondary in which his dad was a long time teacher. Broderick grew up on the mountain, skiing all aspects of it from big mountain to park as well as in the gates. In the end deciding on a lifelong pursuit of speed. Joining the  Whistler Mountain Ski Club at 11 and working his way through the ranks, from WMSC, to BC ski team. Now Broderick is a member of Canadas National Ski Team racing on the World Cup with the privilege and guts to be racing in places like Kitzbuhel and Bormio on any given weekend throughout the Winter.  Broderick attributes some of his success to the multitude of sports Whistler offered him at a young age, as well as a community that felt like a family. Having athletes like Manny Osborne Paradis, Robbie Dixon and Mike Janyk to look up to, and the next generation of WMSC shredders enthusiastic to get better, there has been no end to the motivation that our small valley provides. Be on the look out for Broderick in the community and on the World Cup this season.

My name is Juliette Pelchat, I am a Whistler local, born and raised. I am 19 years old and currently competing for Canada on the National team for Slopestyle Snowboarding. When I was three my dad put me on my first snowboard-down Magic Chair, a beginner run at the base of Blackcomb. Ever since then, snowboarding has been my biggest passion and I am excited to see where it takes me. When I am not snowboarding I am running a Skateboard business alongside my sister, Our mission is to create a safe environment for girls to get into Skateboarding. We run many FREE events and camps/programs at the Whistler Skatepark during the summer. I also love to draw and be creative, this is also a way of meditation for me when things are hectic !!
